Be carried off to the rolling hills of Tuscany during this romantic and flavorful hands-on cooking experience. Join travel writer and Chef Instructor Shawnie Kelley as she shares recipes inspired by her years living in Europe and exploring the Italian countryside.
The star of the evening is Steak Tagliata – one of Italy’s most beloved meat dishes. Grilled flank or hangar steak is sliced thin and served with rosemary, crispy fried capers, and paired with a peppery arugula and lemon salad topped with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. A true Tuscan classic!
Next, you’ll master the technique for making wild mushroom risotto—a rich and soul-warming dish that’s easier than you think. Shawnie will walk you through each step of creating this creamy, comforting dish that comes together in just about 20 minutes.
To finish off the evening, indulge in a traditional Florentine chocolate budino—an elegant Italian pudding that sets quickly and can easily be made ahead.
Throughout class, Shawnie will discuss Tuscan culinary traditions and the simplicity of regional cooking. After class, sit down to enjoy your handmade feast with a glass of wine, included with your experience. Buon Appetito!
You’ll be cooking and standing for extended periods, so please wear long pants and flat, closed-toe shoes. For safety reasons, sandals, flip-flops, and high heels are not permitted in any Columbus State kitchens. Long hair should be tied back. Aprons will be provided.

Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the class to receive a refund or class credit. If The Mix needs to cancel a class, we will contact you by phone or email with the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
