The CAEC Family Fun Day & 5K is a vibrant collaboration between CAEC and several community partners—dedicated to the legacy of Victoria L. Dunn. This annual event brings families together to build healthy habits, celebrate resilience, and focus on whole-body wellness with the people they love most. 💚

Held during Mental Health Awareness Month and ahead of Memorial Day, this FREE event provides a refreshing and healthy alternative to traditional holiday gatherings. It emphasizes wellness in every aspect: mental, physical, emotional, academic, and social.

We’re tackling youth mental health and childhood obesity head-on—promoting active lifestyles, raising awareness about trauma’s impact on health and connecting families with national health initiatives. Together, we’ll highlight the power of resilience, healthy living, and a positive mindset.

• Obesity in Youth: Between 1999–2000 and 2021–2023, obesity rates among U.S. children aged 2–19 increased from 13.9% to 21.1%, with even higher rates in communities of color.
• Health Impacts: Childhood obesity is linked to depression, emotional disorders, low self-esteem, and reduced quality of life.
• Heart Disease: Every 34 seconds someone has a heart attack; every 60 seconds, someone dies from a heart-related event. Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in women—more deadly than all cancers combined.

• 11:15 AM – Free 75-minute Line Dance with The Pickett Sisters
• 12:45 PM – Awards Ceremony
