When a 13-year-old boy first heard these keyboard notes from the song (Get A) Grip (On Yourself) blasting out of his cousin’s stereo way back in early 1977, his love of the music of The Stranglers started. With a group of like-minded friends, an unforgettable journey then began, a journey following a band who would provide “the soundtrack to our lives”, from the early days of the UK punk rock scene right through to the present day.
In this heart-warming and nostalgic show, Norfolk national award-winning performance storyteller and creative singer/songwriter, Andrew Brammer, recounts humorous and poignant memories and anecdotes from the first part of that journey (1977 – 1982) and performs acoustic versions and reinterpretations of classic and timeless Stranglers songs from that period.
Join Andrew as he pulls from his love and encyclopaedic knowledge of all things ‘Stranglers’ for this very different show to his normal works.
This show first played with great success in 2024 in Norwich and Cromer as a tribute to the 50th Anniversary of The Stranglers.
