Organic Vegetable Gardening for Fall & Winter
After a summer hiatus, the TTP Tarrant County Garden Growers Co-op is kicking off the autumn season with an expert class in fall and winter vegetable gardening. North Texas generally enjoys mild weather in fall and winter, which means you can grow a wide range of vegetables and herbs nearly all year round. Learn what you can grow and how to grow it using recommended organic methods. In this free class, Joyce Connelley, co-owner and VP of Marketing for Marshall Grain Co., will take you step-by-step through the process of growing vegetables the organic way.
You'll learn:
- The importance of choosing the right location
- Soil preparation
- Vegetable choices for the fall and winter season
- How to protect your edibles from pests & diseases
Joyce has been teaching and promoting organic gardening methods, vegetable growing, native landscaping, sustainability and other related topics for nearly 20 years. She has been a guest speaker at the Dallas County Community College Sustainability Summit and the City of Grapevine's Annual Butterfly Flutterby, as well as many local garden clubs and community events, including Keep Grapevine Beautiful and the City of Irving's Environmental Education program. For newcomers, our Garden Growers Co-op meetings are informal times of sharing, so they're great opportunities for new and experienced gardeners to get together, learn from each other, make friends and have fun! Our purpose is food freedom—gaining greater independence from corporations for our food. We hope you'll join us!
