About PFC Travis F. Haslip -
Private First Class Travis Frederick Haslip, 20, of Ooltewah, TN was killed by Enemy Forces in Baghdad, Iraq on May 19, 2007. PFC Haslip was the first Hamilton County resident killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. A native of Pontiac, Michigan, Travis had been a resident of Ooltewah since 1990. He attended Ooltewah High School, Collegedale Academy and Chattanooga State. He attended Ooltewah Seventh Day Adventist Church. PFC Haslip is buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery in Sec BB Site 441-C. PFC Haslip was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Marksmanship Badge. PFC Haslip was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), Texas at his passing.
