About the event

Sunday Music Series - Euntaek Kim, Pianist
Pianist Euntaek Kim continues his marathon of performing all
of Prokofiev’s piano music at the Chapel Restoration on Sunday, August 17 at 4pm. Kim will perform Prokofiev’s Schubert Waltzes, his Sonata No. 7 in B-flat Major, Op. 83, and excerpts from “Six Pieces from the ballet ‘Cinderella,’” along with Four Mazurkas, Op. 17 by Frédéric Chopin. The concert at the historic landmark on the banks of the Hudson River is free and open to all. Donations are encouraged.

Hailed by The New York Times as “nimble” and “colorful,” the American pianist, composer, and conductor Euntaek Kim is receiving worldwide recognition for his unique and ambitious
work. Originally from Inchon, South Korea, Kim graduated from the Juilliard School and Yale, where he studied with Jerome Lowenthal and Boris Berman. He has performed solo recitals in Belgium, Canada, Chile, Italy, South Korea, and the US, and as a chamber musician has collaborated with members of the Enso, Escher, Parker, and Ying quartets. Kim’s involvement with Heartbeat Opera’s “FIDELIO!” was praised by The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Los Angeles Times, and he was the pianist in the world premiere of David Hertzberg’s chamber opera “The Rose Elf” at the Green-Wood Cemetery
catacomb in Brooklyn, NY, which was lauded by WQXR as “the best opera event of 2018.” Kim’s performances can be heard on his debut solo album, “Debut - CME Presents Vol. 3: Russian Piano,” “Hertzberg: The Rose Elf,” and “The Wake World.” Kim is currently recording the complete solo piano works of Sergei Prokofiev, slated to be available in 2028.

The Chapel Restoration is located at 45 Market Street, directly across from the Metro-North Train Station. Parking is free on Sundays. This project is made possible, in part, through the
Putnam Arts Council’s Arts Link Grant Program with public funds provided through the NY State Council on the Arts with support from the Governor’s Office and the NY State Legislature
and with public funds from Putnam County.
