A talk on the First Elizabethan Witch Trial held in England.

On Sunday, May 11th, there will be a talk by local historian John Worland about the first Elizabethan witch trial held in England. The event will begin at 2:30 PM.

John is an expert on the Essex witch trials and is passionate about giving a voice to the victims. He actively campaigns for memorials to be placed at significant sites in Essex. During the talk, he will discuss the trial and execution of Elizabeth Lowys from Great Waltham. The initial complaint against her was first heard in a church court, but the civil trial took place in Colchester, where she was hanged. The presentation will also include a film of the re-enactment of the initial trial, which was recently shot in Old St. Mary's Church with actors and a film crew.
