Kongai Thee (கொங்கைத்தீ) - Tamil Play

Shraddha’s production, Kongai Thee by Indira Parthasarathy (Ee Paa), is a play based on Silappadhigaram, the foremost among the five classical Tamil epics. Ee Paa’s interpretation of the epic raises the uncomfortable but important question of civilisational progress - that no matter how modern our society might have become with advancements in technology and lifestyle, have societal power structures changed at all? Diving deep into the psychology of Kannagi, Kovalan and Madhavi, the play puts the spotlight on the oppressive nature of our gender power structure and the need, in today’s times, for a serious and critical examination of its consequences.Inaugurated on Ee Paa’s 95th birthday, this will be Shraddha’s second season with the play.ஷ்ரத்தாவின் அடுத்த தயாரிப்பு, இந்திரா பார்த்தசாரதியின் (இ பா) கொங்கைத்தீ. ஐம்பெருங்காப்பியங்களில் முதன்மையானதும், குடிமக்கள் காப்பியம் என்று அறியப்படும் சிலப்பதிகாரத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டது இந்நாடகம். தொழில்நுட்பம் சார்ந்த வாழ்க்கை முறையில் நமது சமூகம் எவ்வளவு நவீனமாக மாறியிருந்தாலும், வளர்ச்சி அடைந்திருந்தாலும், அடிப்படையில் சமூக அதிகார கட்டமைப்புகள் மாறியுள்ளனவா என்னும் முக்கியமான கேள்வியை முன்வைக்கிறது இந்நாடகம். கண்ணகி கோவலன் மாதவி கதாப்பாத்திரங்களின் உளவியல் போக்கை மையப்படுத்தி, நமது ஆணாதிக்க சமூகக் கட்டமைப்பின் அடக்குமுறை தன்மையை அடிக்கோடிட்டுக் காட்டுகிறது கொங்கைத்தீ. சிலப்பதிகாரக் கதையை அடக்கிவைக்கப்பட்ட பெண்ணின் சீற்றமாகச் சித்தரிக்கிறது.
