Our community of local CDA kayak/SUP enthusiasts has a long-standing tradition of supporting this local non-profit charitable fundraising event. This year the swimmers will be raising funds for local CDA Swim Programs.
This event includes a 2.4 mile open water swim from Arrow Point to the Hagadone Event Center (near the golf course floating green).
Swimmer support includes monitoring the swimmers along the route (marked by a line of buoys), guide them to stay on-course, providing a resting hand hold on your watercraft (if needed), and signal the surrounding support safety boats/jet ski's in case any swimmers are in distress (a rare occurrence).
The kayak/SUP support team will meet at Sanders Beach (15 th street access) on August 10th for an organizational briefing at 6:00 AM. We will then launch our kayaks/SUP around 6:30 am to paddle out towards the swim course [Arrow Point] for the start of the swim. We will divide our swim support team into ~3 different groupings with each group assigned to cover about 1/3 of the course.
Please note that you MUST have a whistle, invasive species sticker on your watercraft, and wear your PFD.
A brunch will be served at the end of the swim in the event center for both the swimmers and support teams. We will also pass-out the volunteer tee-shirts at this time.
Please respond via email, text, phone, or Facebook if you would be willing to participate? Your reply should include your tee-shirt size.
I sincerely thank you for your consideration and support.
