A Deep Dive into Acrylic Painting: Unlock your creative potential in this hands-on acrylic painting course designed for new and intermediate artists ready to explore new techniques and deepen their skills!

Location: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery

Fees:

• Full Series: Register for all classes and pay a discounted price of $400
• Drop-In: $100 per class (choose your preferred sessions)

What to Expect:

Each week, we’ll focus on a specific principle or method in the morning (1.5 to 2 hours), followed by an afternoon painting session. The afternoon session will be instructor-led using the instructor’s reference. Intermediate painters will be able to use your own references if desired. Subjects will primarily include landscapes and florals.

Participants will be able to take home a finished or nearly finished painting each week. Classes run Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with time set aside for lunch and movement breaks.

Supplies List:

To get the most from this course, quality materials are key. Recommended acrylic paint brands include Winsor Newton, Golden, M. Graham, and Tri-Art.

• Cadmium Red or Quinacridone Red
• Cadmium Red Light
• Cadmium Yellow Medium or Hansa Yellow
• Cadmium Yellow Light or Hansa Yellow Light
• Phthalo Blue (Green Shade)
• Ultramarine Blue
• Titanium White

Additional colours like Transparent Red Oxide, Nickel Azo Yellow, and Yellow Ochre may be used. If you don’t already have them, I’ll have some to share.

Please Also Bring:

• A packed lunch/snacks
• Sketchbook
• Wet palette or Dollar Store tray
• Blue shop cloths or Bounty paper towels
• Two containers for rinsing brushes (tall yogurt containers work well)
• Spray bottle (Dollar Store)
• One canvas board or gesso board per class (8"x10" or 9"x11")
• Flat brushes: sizes 10, 6, and 4 (Catalyst, Silver, or Princeton recommended)

About the Instructor:

Marike is known for her bold, expressive use of colour and her passion for encouraging artists and helping them grow. She has taught both adults and children in Ontario and brings a wealth of experience from solo and collaborative exhibitions. Her work is featured at Route 22 Collective Gallery in Cochrane, Alberta and Eclipse Gallery in Huntsville, Ontario.
