Hello Ukulele Lovers!
I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful pre-summer weather. I'm excited to share that I’ll be offering a series of FREE Ukulele Workshops at the Mill Bay Library, starting Monday, the 12th (see the attached poster for full details). These sessions are perfect for Beginners and Early Intermediate players:
Beginner: New to the ukulele? Or maybe you’ve just dabbled with a few chords? This level is for you. I will help you build a strong musical foundation in a relaxed, supportive environment. No previous music experience needed—just bring your uke and your enthusiasm!
Early Intermediate: You've been strumming some tunes, can change chords like C, F, G7, Am (maybe even Bb!), and have a few strumming patterns under your belt. We’ll explore easy scale techniques and start looking at how to solo and add flair to your playing.
What you’ll learn:
• How to tune your ukulele, Soprano, Concert, Tenor or
Baritone
• Read and understand chord diagrams
• Play common chord progressions
• Strum and sing along to fun songs
• Introduction to instrumental melodies
• “Closed” and “moveable” chord forms
• Simple open and closed scales to get you soloing at a jam
session
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your skills up a notch, this workshop will set you on a path to confident and joyful playing.

Bryon is a talented multi-instrumentalist with a Jazz diploma from Malaspina College and a Music Education degree from the University of Victoria. A retired teacher, he now offers private music lessons from his home in Mill Bay or online. In addition to teaching, he is an active performer, playing Classic Rock, Blues, and Country with his band Turnip the Beet, and performing Swing and Jazz on baritone ukulele with his trio Uke’s Misbehavin’.
