Judge Audrie Lawton Evans, candidate for Harris County Attorney, will be speaking to us about her vision for the office. Here’s a short bio:
Judge Audrie Lawton Evans brings over 20 years of legal experience to her campaign for Harris County Attorney, combining exceptional trial skills, judicial leadership, and management expertise. She has first-chaired over 50 jury trials. Judge Lawton Evans currently serves as Presiding Judge for Harris County Civil Court at Law No. 1, a position to which she was unanimously appointed by Commissioners Court and then elected by 547,000 voters. In this role, she presides over high-volume civil dockets with matters up to $250,000 and oversees administrative and budgetary operations for the civil courts. Her career includes service as Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division, Senior Trial Attorney with the State of Texas Special Prosecution Unit where she supervised prosecutors and built a proven track record of winning in court, Assistant General Counsel at Patrick O'Connor & Associates managing legal teams of over 50 attorneys and staff, and Administrative Law Judge for the Texas Education Agency. A proud graduate of Thurgood Marshall School of Law where she now serves as adjunct professor, Judge Lawton Evans has deep roots in Harris County's diverse communities through her lifelong membership at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, service as former Secretary of the Harris County Democratic Party, and active involvement in organizations spanning from the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to the Mexican American Bar Association to Jack and Jill of America. She is running for Harris County Attorney to defend our county against unprecedented attacks from MAGA state officials, pursue environmental justice for communities poisoned by corporate polluters, and protect working families from price gouging and exploitation.
