Special Shim Sham Lesson + Social Dance

There are five Thursdays in May, so to wrap up the end of the month we are hosting some special lessons!

The first lesson will teach the Shim Sham, which was originally a tap dance routine choreographed by Leonard Reed and Willie Bryant. It was adapted for Lindy Hoppers by Frankie Manning, and is now dance at basically every Lindy Hop event at least once (including our Thursday dances!)

The other lesson will teach the St. Louis Shim Sham. This is a line dance that was choreographed by Jon Tigert in 2013. It requires a few more advanced skills than the traditional Shim Sham, so if you’ve never learned the original, we recommend you do that first!

Both lessons will take place from 7-8pm. Each class is $15.

From 8-10pm is our normal weekly social dance! Come dance the night away to our swinging DJs. The social dance costs $8, $5 with student ID, or is FREE for folks who take lessons beforehand.

Both the lessons and the social dance are located at The Brownhoist, at 4403 St Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44103. Free parking is available in the lot at the corner of St. Clair and E. 45th, as well as on surrounding streets.
