Class Overview

In this live presentation of his online class, Sony Tech. Rep, Barrett “Bear” McGivney will discuss how to capture great closeup images all year around, whether it's flowers, coins, products, or…toys. Topics include lens selections, camera settings, helpful accessories, and making better backgrounds. Besides the technical side…for this presentation, Bear will build, light, and shoot a project before the attendees' eyes.

Bio

At the age of 6, Sony Tech Rep, Barrett McGivney’s mother put a camera in his hand and told him “look through the little window, make sure you can see me and your grandparents, push the button when I tell you and keep your fingers away from the lens,” it was then that his passion for photography was born. Throughout his professional career, he has consistently worked as a freelance photographer as well as positions in a photo lab, a photo retail sales associate, a product manager for a photographic lighting company, and a regional business manager for a photo/video distributor. He has worked with all brands of cameras and lighting equipment. Barrett, impressed by the technology innovated by Sony, joined the Tech Rep team in April 2016 and covers Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, & Ohio.
