Awaken Ancient Magic in Your Garden: Sculpt Your Own God, Goddess or Green Man Plaque
Step into the mystical world of Druidic folklore and create a lasting tribute to the spirit of nature. Over the day you will bring a face to life in clay—crafting your very own God, Goddess, or Green Man plaque, a powerful symbol of growth, decay, and renewal.
At the heart of this course is the art of sculpting a face. Under the expert tutelage of Diane, you’ll gain the confidence and techniques to transform raw clay into an expressive, character-filled visage.
You’ll learn how to:
*Build an armature to support your design
*Shape the structure and form of your plaque
*Sculpt realistic or fantastical facial features from clay
*Add personal embellishments—leaves, vines, horns, or other symbolic elements—to make it uniquely yours
*Refine and finesse your sculpture into a finished work of art
Once your creation is complete, it will slowly dry before undergoing its firings in the kiln. Your terracotta plaque will be ready to collect a few weeks later with a rich, natural surface that welcomes the weather. Over time, it will develop a living patina of moss or algae—accelerated, if you like, with a little yogurt or buttermilk.
This is more than a sculpture—it's a guardian of your garden, a reflection of your imagination, and a connection to ancient nature magic. Included in this course is all tuition, materials, equipment, clay and firings. Wear old clothes or feel free to bring an apron.
Please note. This course needs a minimum of 4 attendees to run. Due to the structure of this course we are unable to offer catch up classes. Please unsure you are available for the duration of the course. The studio is not responsible for any classes you are unable to attend.
