We are bringing this exhilirating Brazilian Zouk weekender experience to the Midwest, this Summer, featuring 10+ Brazilian Zouk and transformative workshops for skill-levels ranging from newcomer to advanced, social dance parties, performances, and more! Prepare yourself for 20+ hours of Brazilian Zouk featuring, for the first time ever in Cleveland, Adayl & Deblin (Brazil & Portland, OR) and Parker Amsel (Cleveland, OH), with more guest artists soon TBA!
Adayl Bio:
Adayl (He/Him) is a Brazilian dance instructor with over twelve years of teaching experience. He specializes in bringing Brazilian joy to his dances. As a member of Grupo Embalanco, from Araraquara - Brazil, Adayl has participated, taught, and performed at dance festivals and congresses throughout Brazil and around the world. His training background and personal inspirations include masters Brenda, Bruno G and Raiza, Paulo and Luiza. Adayl’s teaching technique focuses on partner connection, clean fundamentals, flow, incorporating body movements, and a great deal of musicality into the dance.
Deblin Bio:
Deblin McKnight lives for dance. Currently she enjoys teaching weekly dance classes at her studio, VMAC in Portland OR with partner, Adayl Iost. She teaches Brazilian Zouk and Bachata. On weekends you can find her traveling to teach at Congresses, Festivals and Retreats, or competing in social dance competitions. She finds joy in a beautiful connected dance and loves to lead and follow.
In addition to teaching, dancing and competing, Deblin participates heavily in community building. She is Director of Eclipse Zouk Marathon, and Co-Operator of PDX Bachata. In addition to major events, she also organizes Weekender events that focus on a specific artist and their style. She enjoys teaching, training and hiring other amazing artists to grow the dance community in Portland.

Parker Amsel Bio:
Parker Amsel is a co-owner of Viva Dance Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. He trained in gymnastics and martial arts for 15 years before starting ballet, modern, and ballroom in college. He has been teaching most styles of competitive ballroom and social partner dance, including theater arts, since 2007.
He started one of Cleveland‘s most successful salsa clubs in 2010 and operated it for seven years. He has competed nationally and trained with many former and current champions. He introduced Zouk to Ohio and is a community leader in Cleveland. Besides Dance, Parker is a published writer, musician, and DJ.
Nancy Xu Bio:
Nancy is currently a member of Viva’s On 2 Performance Team, Saoco de Mambo. Prior to joining the team in 2019, Nancy attended the Canada Salsa & Bachata Congress in Toronto, where she had the opportunity to take workshops from many world-renowned dancers, including Eddie Torres, Harold & Regan, and Antonio & Jasmina Berardi. She has been classically trained in piano, clarinet, ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical her entire life and has been traveling to teach Zouk classes these last few years.
David Harris Bio:
David started his dance journey in 2010 as a ballroom dancer. After competing and teaching as both an amateur and professional. David transitioned to salsa and bachata before discovering his love for Zouk in 2019. Zouk captivated him with its versatility, playfulness, and expression which he brings to both his dance and teaching style.
Sean and Brittany Bio:
Sean has been social dancing since 2016, but once he found Zouk it quickly became his favorite. Brittany’s first social dance was Brazilian Zouk, since then she has learned many other dances, but Zouk is where her heart lies. Together, they teach and run Columbus Zouk.
Y Bio:
MAC-Certified, Y has been teaching weekly classes for Zouk and WCS since 2019 in Cleveland, OH, while perenially leading Cleveland's Flash Mob/Rally teams for both Zouk and WCS. As a lifelong and former professional martial artist, he attempts to bring presence, awareness, and a sense of humor when elbowed in the throat.
Alexandra Lombard Bio:
Alexandra has been dancing her whole life and started teaching partner dance in 2015. In 2018, Brazilian Zouk stole her heart. She began teaching in 2022 in Columbus and has taught workshops periodically since moving to Virginia in mid-2022.
