Chess Across Generations: Learn, Play & Connect!

We invite all seniors aged 55 and/or above to join us for an engaging Intergenerational Chess Session, where students and seniors come together to share their love for the game! Whether you prefer International Chess or Chinese Chess, this is a unique opportunity to co-learn, teach, and play across generations.

If you're an experienced Chinese Chess player, we’d love for you to share your expertise with our students — and if you're new to the game, our Chess Club members are excited to guide you! No matter your skill level, come sharpen your strategy, make new friends, and enjoy a meaningful afternoon of chess.

About Intergenerational Learning @ MGS

MGS aims to strengthen social empathy and civic consciousness through intergenerational Learning (IGL). The IGL learning model in MGS uses a value exchange model (asset-based design) with opportunities for meaningful contributions and personal development for both seniors and youths. It aims to humanise and value each child and each senior as assets and people of worth.

Seniors and students from all parts of Singapore can choose to volunteer with- and collaborate-with each other to learn and to initiate projects together. We will also want to invite seniors and youths to initiate IGL courses.

IGL at MGS aims to promote lifelong learning and intergenerational understanding. These are some areas of possible IGL learning for seniors and youths.
