Curious about AKC Scent Work or looking for a fun, confidence-building activity for your dog? Our Intro to AKC Scent Work Class is designed to introduce dogs and handlers to the foundation skills of scent detection in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
In this class, dogs will learn how to use their natural hunting instincts to search for target odors while building focus, confidence, and teamwork with their handler. Scent work is mentally enriching, low-impact, and suitable for dogs of all breeds, ages, and experience levels.
This introductory session will cover:
What AKC Scent Work is and how it works
How dogs learn to search and indicate odor
Introduction to scent work equipment and setups
Developing handler timing, leash handling, and observation skills
Building confidence and motivation through structured searches
No prior scent work experience is required. This class is ideal for dogs looking for mental enrichment, confidence building, or a potential path toward AKC Scent Work titles.
