Wild Foods and Medicines Plant Walk

Come join local foraging expert Natalie Hammerquist and learn about some of the medicinal and edible plants in the Cle Elum area. We'll wander the historic coal mines trail and talk about the plants we find there. I expect to see plants such as chokecherry, black hawthorn, willow, black cottonwood, wild rose, violet and stinging nettle.

How to Come Prepared:

Please dress for the weather—which includes a hat, gloves, warm socks, and a good jacket. I will probably wear insulated pants. Cle Elum is still quite cold in May! Some folks were cold last year, so heed the warning and you'll have a happier time on the walk.

Make thorough note of the location above and look at the pin ahead of time. The Coal Mines trail has several entrances in Roslyn and Cle Elum. This one is at the west end of second street.

About your Teacher:

Natalie Hammerquist is a Pacific Northwest-based herbalist, forager, and author of Medicinal Plants of the Pacific Northwest. With over eight years of experience teaching herbalism and wildcrafting, she shares her knowledge through books, classes, and her YouTube channel. Her work focuses on sustainable foraging, home apothecary practices, and deepening connections to the natural world.
