Celebrate Pride Month with a diverse group of brilliant St. Louis writers who identify as part of LGBTQIA+ communities. These writers will share excerpts from their work, demonstrating a range of literature that challenges dominant norms, offers new perspectives, and provides important representation.
SCHEDULE
5–7pm | Food and drinks available for purchase from Amighetti’s
5:00–6:30pm | Visit resource tables, make a pride button, and visit the Gateway to Pride exhibit.
6:30–8:00pm | Head to the Lee Auditorium to hear LGBTQIA+ writers with St. Louis connections read excerpts from their works.
This year’s writers include:
-Paul Cereghino – Comedian, pianist & actor
-Cheeraz Gormon–Cross-genre writer, storyteller & public speaker
-Matthew R. Kerns–Artist, educator, and community leader; President and Artistic Director of St. Lou Fringe
-Joan Lipkin–Playwright, theatre artist, educator & activist; Producing Artistic Director of That Uppity Theatre Company
-Romell Parks-Weekly – Author and public speaker; founder of The Sanctuary church and the Faith Evolution podcast
-Jarek Steele – Author & writing instructor
-Diane Richardson – Songwriter, founding member of Girls with Guitars
-Jeff Truesdell – Journalist and filmmaker
The program will also feature performances by the Gateway Men’s Chorus, St. Louis’s longest tenured LGBTQIA+ arts organization, now celebrating their 38th season.
Join us in the Grand Hall before our main-stage event to enjoy food and drinks available for purchase from Amighetti’s; resource tables hosted by local LBGBTQIA+ organizations; and a pride button activity. Don’t forget to visit the #GatewayToPride exhibit (closing July 6)!
