United Hebrew Congregation—The First Jewish Group in St. Louis

Saturdays, 10am–5pm

St. Louis’s first Jewish prayer group gathered on Rosh Hashanah Eve in 1837 and would become known as the United Hebrew Congregation. This pop-up exhibit examines the beginnings of the first Jewish congregation west of the Mississippi River and how one of its former temples houses MHS’s Library & Research Center.
