About the event

Author Talk: "How the Eads Bridge Made Modern St. Louis"
Join us for our Saturday Speaker Series at the Library & Research Center!

University of Virginia professor John K. (Jack) Brown explores how the Eads Bridge shaped St. Louis commerce, neighborhoods, infrastructure, and culture across the 20th century. The evolving history of that structure gives insight into the region’s growth to 1950, its decline thereafter, and its rebirth in recent decades. The bridge has had broader impacts as well, influencing the principles of modern architecture and even the legal structures that govern the internet.

This event is free, but registration is required.
