In April, we were flooded out of a Wild Church gathering at Origin Park, but we plan to try again August 30th at 1:00 PM. Meet at 398 Emery Crossing Rd, Clarksville, IN 47129 at the Buttonwood Trail parking area.
Details:
* Dress for the weather and spray for bugs! This is a rain or shine event (though thunder and lightning will cancel). This area can be muddy underfoot, so choose suitable shoes.
* The Buttonwood Trail itself is not accessible, but parts of the park near the parking lot are paved and accessible.
* ALL are welcome, including children!
* Bring a chair if you want to sit for contemplation.
* NOTE: There is no restroom currently available.
It sounds strange, but you will want to join us for contemplation in a space that has been used most recently as a landfill. In fact, you will need to put the address in your GPS, because currently the entrance is off Brown Station Way, and through an area with a truck companies and a former sand quarry. You will wonder if you have taken a wrong turn. You cannot reach the park from Clarksville or New Albany because the bridges are not open to cars. It is special, however, because there is a vision to reclaim it and make it a natural wonderland. So never fear, it will be worth the trip to see how stewardship of the land is beginning to reclaim the "brownfields," learn more about the grand plan, and spend time on the banks of Silver Creek where it enters the Ohio River.
Origin Park is a work in progress! From the Origin Park website:
"River Heritage Conservancy, a non-profit, was formed with a mission to reclaim an exceptional landscape, then create and sustain an unparalleled park located in the heart of the Falls Region, connecting our communities, and improving the quality of life for generations. Origin Park represents a transformational effort to restore and revitalize these spaces, turning them into vibrant, accessible areas for recreation and connection."
