Join us for an exciting hands-on geology lab where young scientists will become real mineral detectives! Using classic mineral identification kits, students will observe, test, and classify a collection of mysterious minerals using tools like:
Streak plates – for testing the true color of a mineral’s powder
Magnifying glasses – to explore crystal shapes and surface details
Magnets – to discover which minerals have magnetic properties
Nails – to test hardness and scratch resistance
We’ll explore key characteristics like luster, color, streak, hardness, and magnetism—and talk about how geologists use these clues to identify minerals in the real world. It’s a science sleuthing adventure filled with discovery and “aha!” moments!

Ages: All ages welcome, best for 6–12. Younger kids may need parent help.
