Recyclable Raingutter Regatta
July 29th at 6:30pm
at the Cicero American Legion
Come race a boat built from recyclables and learn about water conservation! Activities geared toward girls and boys ages 5-10, all ages are welcome!
Prepare your Boat in Advance or OnSite!
Boat Specifications
1. Maximum Lenght is 6 3/4"
2. Maximum Width is 5"
3. No Sharp Edges - the raingutter is plastic and filled with air, we do not want to puncture the racetrack!
4. Be THRIFTY! Your boat should be made primarily out of recycled materials like bottles, milk cartons, cans, foil, cardboard, egg cartons, etc.
5. If painted, be sure to use spray paint, not water based acrylic or latex. Waterbased paints will wash off and pollute the track water.
Hows racing work?!
Sailboats are raced down a lenght of water-filled raingutters powered by the youth squirting water behind their boat.
Please bring folding camp chairs, water bottle, and snack. This no cost event is rain or shine! Materials will be provided for on site boat building for any attendees who are unable to make a boat in advance!
