Asalaamu alaikum, friends.
The people of Gaza have lost everything. Their homes, their loved ones, their income and all the basic necessities that you and I take for granted. Most live in tents. At the time of writing this, no significant aid has been allowed to enter Gaza in several months. People are eating one meal a day, sometimes less. Now, they dodge bullets and bombs just to get a sack of flour.
That's where we come in.
We are an Ōtautahi-based mutual aid collective, devoted to fundraising for verified contacts in Gaza. We are going to walk 41km in one day, from the Antigua Boatsheds to Sumner and back and we are seeking your sponsorship.
Why 41 kilometres? Because this represents the length of the entire Gaza strip. Back in October 2023, Gaza was home to 2.2 million people, half of them children. At present, we don't know how many people remain alive. A recent Harvard study found that approximately 377,000 Gazans are unaccounted for.
Whether you can pitch in by donating the cost of a cup of coffee, or join us on the day for part or all of the walk, we would be thrilled to have your support.
Every cent donated to this campaign will help dozens of families on the ground in Gaza. It will ensure that our Palestinian whānau can purchase what they need to survive, be it shelter, medicine or food.
May you live in wellness.
With love from the Marshall family, Ririn and Di.
