Speaking 4 the Planet - Finals Day

Tūranga Library, Tautoru/TSB Space, Level 1, 60 Cathedral Square, Christchurch
Come and support our rangatahi as they perform their speeches, poems and impromptu dramas, and exhibit their art works!
This year's theme, informed by SDG 14 - Protecting life below water, is ‘Making Waves: Our Ocean, Our Future, Our Responsibility’. Issues within this theme include marine plastics pollution, micro plastics in fashion, overfishing, the impacts of climate change, deep sea mining, and biodiversity loss. All entries and performances must be based on this theme.
Students from around the Canterbury region will compete across three age groups and five categories for fantastic prizes. The public are invited to come in at any time and see the performances. Visual Art entries will also be on display.
Doors open from 9am. More information to come about the timings for each event category!

09:55 - 10:40 - Year 7 Prepared Speeches
11:00 - 12:00 - Year 8 Prepared Speeches
12:35 - 13:15 - Year 7 - 8 Spoken Word Poetry
13:15 - 13:35 - Two Showcases (Spoken Word and Drama)
13:35 - 13:45 - Year 7 & 8 prize winners announced (but not the placings)
13:45 - 14:45 - Year 9 - 11 Prepared Speeches
14:55 - 15:20 - Year 12 - 13 Prepared Speeches
16:00 - 17:00 - Prize Giving (speeches, spoken word, artwork) and closing.
