Louise Pōtiki Bryant - Whakahā

'Whakahā' emerges from Louise Pōtiki Bryant's (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Waitaha) personal experiences of Cyclone Gabrielle, delving into the stillness before the storm to explore the moment of pause before Papatūānuku exhales.

This performance is a part of 'A Time of Waiting', a series of temporary installations, site activations, and performances that investigate how seemingly passive actions can resonate or become politically charged responses to the relentless pace and demands of contemporary life.

Curated and toured by Chris Braddock, John Vea and Stephen Cleland, with support from Creative New Zealand, Auckland University of Technology and Te Wai Ngutu Kākā Gallery, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Keep an eye on our website for additional performances in this series.

Accessibility: The performance will take place on the first floor. During the performance, our usual lift will be inaccessible, therefore access to the first floor will be via our back-of-house lift. The performance begins with the audience walking up the stairs. If you have accessibility requirements, please arrive early so that we can arrange use of the lift before the performance begins. There is a parking building underneath the Gallery, and on-street parking on Montreal and Gloucester Streets.
