WHEN: Saturday October 25th at the Special time of 6.30pm (A later time than usual).

WHERE: Room 10, Phillipstown Community Hub, 39 Nursery Road, Christchurch. (At the Vegan Night Market).

SPEAKER; Mark Humanity is a movement historian and activist. He sits on the board of the Vegan Society of Aotearoa/New Zealand and is a frequent guest on podcasts and radio.

TOPIC: "Direct Action for animals - hits and misses - looking back at the rise of militancy in the struggle for animal rights The Animal Liberation Front (ALF) began life in the 1970's and were a potent force in the movement for forty years, attracting praise and criticism for their provocative and belligerent actions. Whilst still active today, they are now greatly reduced in number and frequency of actions. Mark Humanity looks back on the rise and demise of the ALF in the UK and what we can learn from their mistakes and successes."

SPECIAL OFFER: Copies of Mark’s book ‘The Humanity Trigger’ will be available at this event for the extra special price of $20 each!

The Humanity Trigger is a unique exploration of 200 years of action for animals in Ireland, from the formation of the RSPCA in 1822 to the rise of the militants in the 1980's and everything in between. My own participation as a Hunt Saboteur, both in Ireland and the UK, is also told. "Masterful storytelling and insightful analysis....a masterpiece that exceeds its subject matter, offering a profound exploration of compassion, justice, and the enduring power of human agency." review by Djordje Miladinović
