Back the bus! Aranui families are being left behind.
Pam Williams and her whānau, like many in our community, are calling for fair, accessible public transport that runs through the heart of Aranui, not around it.
Since the earthquakes in 2011, the roads in Aranui were deemed too damaged for a bus service and while minibuses were used for a while, in 2014, the service into Aranui was cancelled.
Right now, there’s no direct bus service down Hampshire Street - our main street - and it's affecting 1 in 3 people in our community who don’t have alternative transport. Many have to walk 20-25 minutes just to reach the nearest bus stop - too far for our tamariki, kaumātua, and those with mobility needs.
Show up for Aranui!
When: Thursday 25 September, 3-5pm
Where: 31 Hampshire St, outside the Aranui Wainoni Community Centre
What’s happening:
- Jump aboard our free bus and do a loop of the neighbourhood
- Free sausage sizzle, music, colouring in competition for tamariki
- Sign Pam’s petition!
A great chance to connect with your community and make your voice heard.
Join the fun, bring your whānau, and back the bus!
