An Introduction to Being Assertive
Being assertive means expressing your thoughts, feelings, and needs clearly and respectfully, while also respecting the rights and feelings of others.
It involves standing up for your own rights without being aggressive or passive.
Assertiveness can benefit you by:
- Strengthening relationships: It helps build trust and respect with others.
- Reducing stress: Assertive communication can prevent feelings of being overwhelmed.
- Improving self-esteem: Being assertive empowers you to communicate your needs without guilt.
- Encouraging open dialogue: It promotes understanding and respect between individuals.
During this session, you will:
· Establish the meaning of assertiveness and examine your own level of assertiveness.
· Consider methods to become more assertive and assess the benefits.
· Explore a situation in which you may need to be assertive.
This one off free session is delivered by Lancashire Adult Learning and held in a ground floor room.
