As it is a Full Moon (Hunter's Moon) on the night of 6th October.
(The exact full moon time is the next morning at 04:47 on the 7th)
I'm organising a walk for anyone interested.
The plan is to meet in the local pub in Old Sodbury (The Dog Inn, BS37 6LZ) to leave for the walk at 9pm. Those who arrive before this time can grab a quick drink, food, chat, weather check. Before leaving for the short 3 mile walk.
(Please comment on the event discussions if you plan to grab food in the pub before, others may wish to join you)
We start the walk heading to Old Sodbury Church.
After the church, across some fields and up a short steep hill to the Roman Camp (iron age hill fort).
Stopping here to make the most of the Full Moon and stars. Fingers crossed we will have clear skies or a thin cloud for strange moon effects.
We could stay at the hill fort a little while moon and stargazing.
With this being a full moon walk this means you may not need any torches. A red light torch is good for stargazing.
Please bring warm clothes as we could hang around at the Hill Fort some time if the stars are amazing. Also this route could be muddy in quite a few places so you may want a change of shoes.
Finally, I plan to be finished and back at the pub car park before midnight.
There's potentially the chance of cattle (sheep, cows and horses) on this walk. So, not suitable for dogs.
Disclaimer: I am not qualified in first aid so people are taking these walks at their own risk.
