Hi Parents & Carers
With the end of the school year fast approaching, the KLF wanted to end the year with a bang to celebrate a great year of fundraising, which we can’t thank you enough for. To celebrate this, we are organising a Colour Run for Friday 11th July after school.
What is a Colour Run?
A colour run is a fun, non-competitive running event. Participants wear white t-shirts and are showered with powdered paint as they run around the course.
What can be expected from the King’s Lodge Colour Run?
Firstly, we are calling ours a Rainbow Dash. The rainbow dash track will be set up around the field and will include a mixture of fun obstacles and stretches to run or walk. Around the course there will be volunteers showering the children taking part in powdered paint. All children taking part will receive a medal once they have completed the course.
We are also offering parents an opportunity to purchase additional powdered paint which they can throw at their child/children that are taking part. There will be specific areas for these parents to throw from. There is also an order form attached to this letter for you to order any paint you would like for throwing.
The day of the event
To ensure the children’s safety, each year group will run in their own time slot after school, in the same way that we have different time slots per year group when we run the discos. Before each race we will give a safety brief to the children running, they will be sprayed with water to make sure the paint sticks and have a very quick warm up.
Times slots
Run time Year Group Laps
3.30pm Reception 2
4pm Year 1 2
4.30pm Year 2 2
5pm Year 3 3
5.30pm Year 4 3
6pm Year 5 3
6.30pm Year 6 3
There will be an area on the field for parents to watch their child’s race. This will be separate to the area for those parents that have paid to throw paint.
How much is a ticket and how do I book?
Tickets are £10 per child – this includes a white t-shirt for your child to wear at the event, novelty sunglass and a medal at the end.
You may think, “wow, this is a lot of money!” but this covers the cost of the event, buying the powdered paint we need, the medal, novelty sunglasses (eye protection must be worn throughout the run) and a white t-shirt. This price covers these costs and means we will make a small amount to add to our fundraising pot.
Booking is online, via the try Booking website, link below.

When booking, make sure you book on to the right year group run. You will also find several tick boxes to confirm that you have read and understood the terms and conditions, these are available to read via a link on the booking page, please make sure you read them. It’s like the waivers you sign for Boomerang or Bounce House.
Sponsorship
We are giving all children the opportunity to collect sponsorship for the Rainbow Dash. There is a sponsorship form attached to this letter for you to complete and collect your sponsors if you feel this is something you want to do to help us raise even more money from the event. If gain sponsorship, please have your completed sponsorship form and the cash in an envelope back to school by Friday 18th July at the latest.
Please note, sponsorship is optional, and your child/children will still be allowed to take part in the Rainbow Dash if they don’t get any sponsorship.
What are the forms with this letter?
With this letter you will find a sponsorship form (sponsorship is optional) and an order form, this is where you will let us know what size t-shirt your child requires and if you want to buy any additional paint for throwing.
Please return the slip for the t-shirt size and any extra paint to your child’s teacher in an envelope with the cash for the extra paint inside by Tuesday 1st July.
Important information
All children taking part must wear eye protection to take part in the run. If they refuse to wear it or remove it halfway through the run and don’t put it back on, they will be asked to leave the race. For health and safety reasons they cannot participate in the race if eye protection is not worn.
Paint cannot be thrown over heads, therefore all throwing/showering will be from the shoulders down.
