Local dancer and choreographer Rachel Hayes is offering exclusive intermediate West Coast Swing dance classes at monca to kick off the new year 🎶
Each session begins with an all-levels activity from 6:00-6:45PM and is followed by intermediate level West Coast Swing variations and stylings from 7:00-7:45PM. Folks must have previous West Coast Swing Dance experience to participate effectively in the 7-7:45PM part of the classes ✨
By the end of the series, students will increase their proficiency in the foundational basics of West Coast Swing. Variations will be added for those seeking more of a challenge.
Participants do not need to come with a dancing partner, as partnerships will be randomized and folks will dance with many different partners per class.
You may purchase tickets online or in person at the museum. Online ticket sales are preferred. Singular class tickets are $20 per person or you may purchase a Full Series 6 Class Package for $99.
Dance Class ONE: Thursday, January 15, 2026, 6-8PM
Dance Class TWO: Thursday, January 22, 2026, 6-8PM
Dance Class THREE: Thursday, January 29, 2026, 6-8PM
Dance Class FOUR: Thursday, February 5, 2026, 6-8PM
Dance Class FIVE: Thursday, February 12, 2026, 6-8PM
Dance Class SIX & Social Dance: Thursday, February 19, 2026, 6-9:30PM
Social Dance ONLY: Thursday, February 19, 2026, 7-9:30PM
The final class on Thursday, February 19th will be split into two sections. Part One will consist of the final instructional dance classes from 6-7:30PM. Part Two will be a social dance open to anyone, regardless of prior dance class attendance from 7:30-9:30PM. If you would like to attend the class and social dance, tickets are $20 per person. If you are interested in just the social dance, tickets are $10 per person.
People of all backgrounds are welcome to join and learn more about dance!
Rachel Hayes is a lifelong dancer and has experience teaching Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing, and Fusion at Chapman University. Hayes holds a 1st Place award in Advanced West Coast Swing from the 2019 US Open Swing Dance Championships.
