Workshop: Introduction to Sanskrit – Learning Sacred Sound

Join us for a beginner-friendly exploration into the ancient and sacred language of Sanskrit. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to properly pronounce the Sanskrit alphabet and begin writing in Devanagari, the script used for Sanskrit texts.

We’ll explore the historical roots of Sanskrit and why it’s considered a sacred language in yoga and spiritual traditions. You’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for the vibrational power of sound and the meditative clarity that comes from learning this phonetic language, where once you know how to pronounce it, you can read it!

Perfect for yoga students, teachers, language lovers, and curious minds alike. Whether you're looking to deepen your yoga practice or just want to try something new and meaningful with your Saturday afternoon, this is the place to begin.

Taught by Chelsea Smith, yoga instructor and academic educator.

No experience needed. All are welcome.
