Join us on Tuesday, July 15th, at Walls Turned Sideways to engage in collective imagining for a future world free from the terror of violence and the Pr*son-industrial complex.
Through storytelling, artmaking, and a film screening, this event will center the dreams and radical imaginations of those who are impacted by incarceration.

Info: Laureal Metlock will lead a zine/collaging workshop in pursuit of the question: What does a world without prisons look like? This workshop will center the themes of Afrofuturism, abolition, and Black Radical Thought. All art materials will be provided.

Info: "Not To Be", a film about a play by the same name, was written and performed by men in the Pr*son+Neighborhood Arts/Education Project’s Think Tank at Stateville Pr*son. In 2022-2023, Theatre Y Director Melissa Lorraine worked with the PNAP Think Tank to develop and produce "Not To Be". After Stateville was shuttered, Theatre Y produced a film showcasing scenes from a special performance of the play, organized by the PNAP Think Tank, at Stateville Pr*son in July 2023.
Info: "Reflections on Juneteenth" is a zine compilation of poems written by writers in the PNAP Think Tank at Logan Correctional Center. The collection was inspired by Langston Hughes’ poem “Frederick Douglass” and Lucille Clifton’s poem “Won’t You Celebrate with Me.” In 2024-2025, the Logan Think Tank was led by Alice Kim. Reflections on Juneteenth zine design by Iman Snobar. Transcription of poems by Taji Chesimet, Yurou Li and Iman Snobar. Print copies of zines supported by Rachel McMillian and Project 9161.
