Calling all generative artists! You're invited to participate in our Chicago lab.
This cultural and linguistic translation lab includes exploring text from the experimental work NIGHT DIARIES, which has been translated from Italian into English by Carolina Migli Bateson. Rehearsals will explore ideas of gender and transformation as translated through more than language - culture, aesthetic, and medium.
Explorations will include durational performance related to the length of a sunset, the absence of light, physical theatre and dance expressions of non-traditional texts (field guides, cookbooks, instruction manuals, poetry, maps), and adaptation of historical events into storytelling and anecdotal formats.
Provocation of form will include the incorporation of sensory engagement through real-time smells and sounds of kitchen and camp prep, as well as visual and auditory elements, as the artists explore the things they hope humanity will never forget.
