IDSA WID Chicago Salon Series - Presentation Night

Join us for the August edition of the Salon Series, a monthly gathering for women and non-binary designers to connect through conversation, creativity, and community.

This month, we're hosting a Presentation Open-Mic Night—an informal, welcoming space where participants share design projects, concepts, or stuck ideas in a cross-generational and collaborative setting.

🎤 We’re featuring 5 presenters, each sharing their work in 5 minutes with 5 slides.Whether it’s a work-in-progress, side project, passion project, or something you’re feeling stuck on, this is your chance to present, receive feedback, and spark meaningful conversation.

Design presentations are often centered on polished outcomes and client pitches.We’re flipping that script. This event celebrates process, exploration, and connection—where questions are just as valuable as solutions, and vulnerability is part of the creative journey.

✅ Requirements:

• 5 slides max
• 5–8 minutes per presentation
• Must be a project or concept you’re directly involved in
• All work must be original or properly credited
• Content must follow our community guidelines

✨ We encourage submissions from womxn and non-binary designers, but all are welcome to attend and apply.

We're excited to be hosted by The Sticks, a community woodshop in Chicago’s Fulton Market District. Their 5,000 sq ft light-filled studio includes five private studios, a membership-based woodshop, and a robust education program—a creative haven for makers and designers.
