Colvin Concerts: The Raven Duo

Raven Duo is the joining together of two enigmatic musicians emerging in Chicago's growing jazz scene. Miranda Sprague, also known as Mira Raven, is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and artist who started a jazz collective back in 2017 after receiving the Luminarts Foundation Jazz Fellowship Award. The Coffee Jazz Collective is a free-form group that has had emerging artists and legends pass through. Some notable mentions are Robert Irving III, Larry Brown Jr., Justin Dillard, and several others.

Chicago’s Brandon Harper, a 2024 Ravinia Steans Music Institute fellow under jazz greats Rufus Reid, Billy Childs, and Steve Wilson, is among the nation's best young jazz pianists just a few years after embracing the instrument.

In 2024 he led the Brandon Harper and Friends trio at the Chicago Jazz Festival, played a four-day stand at Chicago's legendary Jazz Showcase with alto saxophonist Greg Ward’s combo, twice played with drummer Clif Wallace’s Big Band at Andy’s Jazz Club, and played at both Andy's and at Jazz Showcase with drummer Isaiah Spencer’s combo. Prior to those accomplishments, he was selected as one of the 2024 YoungArts winners for jazz piano.

We have food and a selection of beverages (sodas, beer, and wine) for sale onsite at Colvin House! Guests can order from a limited menu each week.

Please note that we do not allow outside food or drinks at Colvin Concerts.

Parking Info:

The first 15 cars can park FREE at George B. Swift Elementary School, just two blocks west of Colvin House (as space allows). Please come to Colvin House's back door (off Thorndale Ave) first to receive a parking permit from staff, who will provide further instructions.

We also recommend The Malibu Condominiums (6007 N Sheridan) public garage, just across the street, north of Colvin House. This parking can be validated by Colvin House for $2.00 off.

Those valet rates are as follows:

· 1 Hour: $6

· 2 Hours: $10

· 3 Hours: $11

· 4 Hours: $13

We recommend arriving early if you need to park.
