Walker’s stage presence allows his attitude to shine! His animation and energy truly add to the experience when you see him play live. He is an artist who likes to fully immerse himself in his music, playing from a space that is a world of his own. In turn, that world and that emotion – be it happy, angry, cheeky, melancholy, or all of the above – is genuinely communicated to his audience. Walker's music spans a breadth of honky tonk, rock, and blues – a style he terms “Rocky Tonk” – you do not want to miss it!
Jay Coda Walker is a proud Calgarian who has pursued his craft over a span of decades. His musical journey began with porch sessions and teachings with his grandfather and grandmother learning depression era cowboy and gospel songs. Jay Coda has since bridged, powerfully, many styles of music serving well his early musical inspirations. Jay Coda has had the fortune of performing and sharing his music across Canada and internationally, frequenting Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville and Memphis. Walker represented Canada as the winner of the Alberta Blues Challenge at the Memphis Blues Challenge and maintained a staff writing residency at the Roy Orbison Publishing House in Nashville Tennessee, which also brought him the experience of playing at the Grand Ole Opry, achieving one of Jay Codas’ most treasured dreams.
He has also had the honor and pleasure to open shows and tour with some legendary names in music, including Johnny Lang, Don Felder of the Eagles, America, Fred Eaglesmith, Paul James, Tom Cochrane & Red Rider, Tommy Chong, Alfie Zappacosta, Dennis Jones, Whitey Kurst (guitarist of Iggy Pop), Troy "The guitar burner" Turner among many others.
