Jose Ventura is the Rebreather OEM Support Specialist at Shearwater Research, bringing with him decades of experience in technical diving and instruction. He began diving in the early 1990s and has since logged thousands of dives around the world.
With over 20 years as an instructor, Jose holds Instructor Trainer credentials across a broad range of disciplines including open-circuit, closed-circuit, semi-closed-circuit, trimix, cave, and wreck diving. He has held certifications with numerous leading agencies such as IANTD, SDI/TDI, NSS-CDS, PADI, and DAN, where he also serves as an Examiner.
Jose is passionate about promoting scuba safety and education through improved access to information. He has translated several diving manuals into Portuguese to support this mission. In addition to his instructional work, he is an accomplished cave explorer, having participated in expeditions to depths exceeding 600 feet and durations surpassing eight hours.
