Join us for a truly eye-opening evening as we welcome Dr. Emmanuel Dugrenot, Senior Researcher at Divers Alert Network (DAN), to Y-kiki Divers’ Speaker Series!
Dr. Dugrenot will take us into the depths of Immersion Pulmonary Edema (IPE)—a serious and often misunderstood condition where fluid builds up in the lungs during immersion without inhaling water. It can affect even the most experienced divers. In his talk, “Drowning from the Inside: The Ins, Outs, and Unknowns of IPE,” he’ll share what we know, what we don’t, and how research is advancing diver safety.
About Dr. Emmanuel Dugrenot:
With a master’s degree in molecular biology and a PhD in physiology focused on genetic resistance to decompression sickness, Dr. Dugrenot brings a rare blend of scientific expertise and hands-on dive experience. He’s an experienced technical and rebreather diving instructor trainer, a former dive industry entrepreneur, and now a Senior Researcher at DAN, as well as a visiting researcher at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and University of Western Brittany.
If you’re passionate about diving and curious about the science that keeps us safe beneath the surface, don’t miss this engaging, insightful event!
