Myofascial Release Workshop with Radhika Truffa

Foam rolling is a form of self myofascial release, or basically a way you can give yourself a deep tissue massage. The fascia is a fibrous layer of connective tissue that surrounds and goes through all of the muscles in our body. Over time, fibers of the fascia become cross-linked and they bind to muscles and nerves, inhibiting normal motion and causing pain.

In this workshop we will be using different tools such as foam rollers, various types of balls, and yoga blankets to decrease adhesions in the fascia resulting in decreased pain, increased range of motion, increased circulation, and finally, to help prevent injury. The foam rolling will be followed by some hip opening yoga poses that will be held for a long period of time, which will continue to work on releasing the fascia.
