Step into a world of transformation, color, and heartfelt expression in Metamorphosis: Painting JOY in the Journey, a solo exhibition by Chester, Virginia artist Katherine Thompson. This vibrant showcase captures the essence of finding beauty in life’s unfolding moments, with works that speak to the soul and uplift the spirit.

Inspired by a serendipitous visit from a butterfly, Katherine’s artistic journey is one of growth, discovery, and creative evolution. Her work combines a lifetime of creative exploration and crossover techniques, resulting in a body of art that is both technically rich and emotionally resonant.

With a style that is realistic and evocative, Katherine’s paintings radiate joy through their vivid color palettes and universally appealing subject matter. From touching portraits and joyful candid scenes to serene landscapes, dramatic seascapes, and bold abstracts, her pieces reflect the images that speak most deeply to her heart.

This exhibit will be on display in our Baxter and Elaine Perkinson Jr. Art Gallery June 13 through October 18th.
