Canalside - A Chester lunchtime netwalk

Take a lunchtime break, chat with fellow walkers and see something new on a short walk by Chester's historic canal.

This easy lunchtime stroll will explore a stretch of Chester's historic canal in the north of the city. Your professional local guide, Katie, will share some stories from this period along the route but you'll also have plenty of chance to chat with fellow walkers.

Chester's canal, parts of which date back around 250 years, weaves its way through the city centre around roads, historic buildings and ancient city walls. We'll take a brief look at the grand ambitions behind The Chester Canal and how these were realised - well sort of! We'll also look at some of the buildings surrounding the canal and the communities that lived there, as well as how both they and the canal are being used today.

This is part of a regular series of monthly lunchtime netwalks in and around Chester city centre held on the third Wednesday of every month. Longer weekend walks also take place on the first Sunday of the month. Please follow for more details of future events.
