Building Flomation: A Fireside Chat with Andy Esser

We have Andy Esser in the hot seat to talk about Flomation, his new product that’s almost ready to launch. In this fireside chat, we’ll dig into how the idea came about, the architecture behind it (both software and hosting), and what the build process looked like from first sketch to working system.

We’ll also chat about how Flomation became a business—drawing some comparisons to Andy’s earlier startup, Haia. Expect a mix of technical insight, honest reflections, and a few stories from the trenches of product development.

Andy Esser is a seasoned software engineer with over 30 years of experience across sectors like education, broadcast, government, recruitment, and finance. He brings deep expertise in network infrastructure, DevOps, and process optimisation, with a knack for solving problems under pressure.

Outside of tech, Andy’s a volunteer first responder with the Welsh Ambulance Service, a dad of three, and proud companion to an Italian Greyhound named Dobby. He’s currently working on launching Flomation, a new product built from the ground up—and we’ll be chatting with him about how that journey unfolded.
