Stargazing on the Salt Flats

Learn about wildlife at Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge and view the night sky on August 9. The event is from 9-10:30pm at the Selenite Crystal Digging Area: 66003 Garvin Road, Cherokee OK 73728. It is free to attend but make sure to bring a chair and a flashlight. Red light is preferred.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University is assisting with this event and will be bringing a couple of telescopes.

Keep in mind this is a special event and this area is normally only open until sunset. All refuge rules apply. Pets are welcomed but must be on leash. Drones are prohibited. Photography and filming is allowed but all artificial light must be preapproved by the refuge before use. No selenite crystal digging will be allowed during the event.
