💡 Hosted in Chemnitz in the frame of the 2025 European Capital of Culture, d@rts will hold two public events at the Open Space Chemnitz: a Digital Playground Workshop and a Panel Discussion titled “Does Arts Education Make the World a Better Place?”.
Join us for:
🎮 17:00–18:30 | Digital Playground Workshop
This workshop will introduce a key component of d@rts: an interactive digital platform that creates a vibrant online community for project participants. With playful and gamified elements, the platform supports post-digital learning, promoting communication, creativity, and engagement. Participants, including dancers, musicians, and performance artists will present examples of the verbal and non-verbal dialogues that bring this digital space to life.
Attendees are invited to explore the platform themselves using a smartphone or tablet. These digital environments open up new ways of navigating identity, class, and nationality, beyond traditional learning settings.
📱 Required tools: A smartphone or tablet with internet access and a camera.
🎤 18:45–20:15 | Panel Discussion: “Does Arts Education Make the World a Better Place?”
This international panel brings together researchers and practitioners to explore the ambitions, tensions, and contradictions of arts education today. Focusing on participatory approaches in music, dance, and theatre, the discussion will address questions such as:
> How can we ensure arts education is inclusive?
> Who is reached – and who remains excluded?
> How do we measure success in terms of social impact?
> What are the risks of using the arts for political or social agendas?
✨ Moderated by Prof. Rose Martin (Nord University, Norway), the panel features voices from across academic and practice-based fields, including local initiatives in Chemnitz.
The event is free and accessible to all. Find more information here:
