As part of Chelmsford For You’s January campaign – The Dry Edit, this Sober Comedy Night runs alongside Dry January, offering a brilliant alternative night out that doesn’t revolve around alcohol. Whether you’re doing Dry January, living alcohol-free, or simply fancy a great night of comedy in a welcoming environment, this event is for you.

Big laughs. Top comedians. Zero alcohol. We’re teaming up with the UK’s original alcohol-free comedy club, Sober IS Fun, for a night of comedy with no hangover required.

Comedy Line-Up:

James Redmond

- James made his name as an actor, best known for roles in Hollyoaks, Casualty, and presenting SM:TV, alongside appearances on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Celebrity Come Dine With Me. He has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, hosts the charity comedy club Laughing Stock, and has hosted charity events at Bristol Cathedral and Indigo at The O2.

Maureen Younger

- In 2023, Maureen came third place in the finals of British Comedian of the Year, and in 2024 performed at the Best of British Showcase at the Adelaide Comedy Festival.
Frank, fast, feisty, and sharp — Maureen delivers honest humour with attitude.

Mike Gunn

- One of the UK’s leading stand-up comedians, Mike has toured with Jo Brand, Alan Davies, and Lee Mack, and performed worldwide at top comedy venues including The Comedy Store, The Glee, The 99 Club, The Comedy Cellar, and Off The Kerb venues.

Food : doors open from 6:30pm for food, with a full menu available including vegan options.

The County Hotel with be serving an extensive alcohol-free drinks menu.
