Hear ye, hear ye! Willapa Hills Trail Monthly Bike Rides are starting up again, with a very special ride on Labor Day!
The most wild area of the Willapa Hills Trail is getting a much-needed surface improvement soon. As such, we wanted to get anyone and everyone who wants to ride through Pluvius one last time together an opportunity to do so in its current rugged state.
There will be two options for this ride, a metric century-ish route and a shorter 30-ish mile route. If you want to do the long route, we will roll out from 9 a.m. at the Adna Trailhead together; if you want to do the shorter route, join us in Pe Ell at 10:30 a.m.
Our turnaround point will be Frances, on the trail near Holy Family Catholic Church.
Please consider that the trail west of mile 28 is unimproved and has several bumpy and rugged stretches. As such, we recommend a bicycle with at least 700x40c tires. Tubeless tire setups are best. Road bikes or bikes with 700x28c or thinner will not do well on this section.
We ask all riders to be self-sustainable and carry the necessary tools and equipment you need for minor repairs. A multi-tool, spare tube, tubeless repair kit, tire levers, etc. are all good to carry.
Adherence to trail rules and following good trail etiquette is a condition for riding in this group ride. Yield to pedestrians and stop for equestrians. Do not use private driveways or cut through anyone's property. Be conscientious riders and respect everyone around you.
Bring water as the trail west of Pe Ell is dry.
